» Comprendre l'Islam Politique dans les Sociétés Arabes Méditerranéennes: Défis et Perspectives pour la Politique Etrangère de l'UE.

La Chaire TOTAL sur la Politique étrangère de l'UE a organisé le 24 février 2012 une conférence internationale sur la place de l'Islam politique dans les sociétés arabes méditerranéennes et les implications pour la politique étrangère de l'Union européenne.

De par ses nombreux partenaires dans le monde arabe et méditerranéen, c'est avec une attention toute particulière que le service de développement du Collège d'Europe s'est intéressé à la conférence. Charles Thépaut, assistant de recherche pour la Chaire TOTAL sur la politique étrangère de l'UE vous livre les moments forts de l'événement.

La première partie de la conférence a permis de préciser ce que le terme « Islam politique » recouvrait. Les interventions d’Emilio Platti et de François Burgat ont permis d’établir que les acteurs de l’Islam politique partageaient avant tout un « lexique » et des références religieuses, mais que leur projet politique n’est ni unique, ni figé. L’analyse des sermons accompagnant les soulèvements montre par exemple que trois sources de légitimité ont été mobilisées : le nationalisme, l’Islam politique et la démocratie libérale.

Tailored training for UNDP high-level officials

From 5 to 7 March, the Development Office of the College of Europe organises a three-day training on "EU accession challenges and the EU acquis". Resident Representatives and Deputy Resident Representatives from the UNDP Country Offices in the Western Balkans and Turkey, as well as from the UNDP Brussels Office and Headquarters in New York are taking part in this tailored course.

FWC Commission 2011 - Lot 2: Communication & Training

As part of a consortium led by JCP srl in the framework of the FWC Commission 2011, Lot 2, the Development Office has been awarded 2 short-term projects in the field of education and governance: Education Fairs in Russia and Training and Guidance Documents within the area of Justice and Rule of Law for DG DEVCO.

Preparing EU neighbours for jobs related to the European Union

From 28 to 30 November, the Development Office of the College of Europe organised the first training seminar in the framework of the ENP regional project "Preparing staff for EU-ENP related jobs", on EU Institutions and EU decision-making process for 36 public administration officials coming from various ENP countries.

Training the EEAS - EU Officials

In the next four years the College of Europe will be training EU officials from all EU institutions, bodies and agencies; in the framework of these activities the Development Office has already started its contribution. In the month of February, we have developed and implemented tailor-made training programmes for EEAS officials dealing with different legal and political aspects of EU Diplomacy.

EEAS officials are as well invited to participate in our open for registration training programme EU Diplomacy which will take place on 23-27 April 2012 in Bruges.
