The College of Europe has launched a series of “EU Focus Sessions” in Istanbul, together with its local partner, Kadir Has University. Tailor made for a professional audience from Turkey and neighbouring countries, these seminars will focus on aspects of EU policy-making that are of particular relevance for the region. The policy areas are covered in a comprehensive way and from different perspectives.
Expertise for the specific topics is brought in by the lecturers from the College’s network, having extensive professional or academic experience in their area of specialisation.
Particular attention is also paid to the practical relevance of the training session.
EU Focus Session: EU Trade Policy and Turkey (25-28 January)
The series of EU Focus Sessions was launched in January, with the first session being dedicated to ‘EU Trade Policy and Turkey’. It provided participants with a thorough overview over different aspects of EU Trade policy, and gave insights into concrete implications for Turkey. Under the directorship of Prof. Carol Cosgrove-Sacks, six experts tackled the topic from different angles, bringing in not only the legal and economic point of view but also negotiation aspects and the perspectives of civil society and the EU institutions.
EU Focus Session: Competition Policy and State Aids (7-10 June)
The second EU Focus Session will cover the area of EU Competition Policy and State Aids and its implications for Turkey. The seminar will touch upon the relevant legal, political and economic aspects of the policy area, which will be analysed and illustrated through practical cases.
