Are you tired of people talking about how great the EU is? Do you love talking about how great the EU is? Then we have the event for you!

Europe Outside the Box, the College of Europe debating club, is pleased to present its first event of the year, a student-led debate on the motion "This House Believes that the EU has Failed".

The details

  • Two teams (one in favour of the motion and one against) of 4 or 5 speakers each. Speakers sign up individually; any student or member of staff of the College can be a speaker.
  • No previous debating experience necessary to participate.
  • The debate will follow the British Parliamentary Style format. Don't know what that is? No problem! We'll provide guidelines and coaching to the participants.
  • Audience voting will determine the winning team.

How to get involved:

  • If you are interested in participating as a speaker, register by clicking on one of the links below and fill in your name and College of Europe email address:
    • If you would like to debate for the PRO team;
    • If you would like to debate for the CON team.

NOTE: Teams will be selected on a first come, first served basis. The deadline to register is 27 October at 12:00 noon.

If you would like to attend but don't feel like debating on a team this time, you can still take part; audience participation is welcomed.
We are looking into the possibility to live-stream and/or record this debate. More information soon.
