Press release

On 29 October the College of Europe will inaugurate the InBev-Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations, which is based in the Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies in Bruges.

The Chair is supported by the InBev-Baillet Latour Fund with the aim of stimulating multidisciplinary research on the EU’s relations with the People’s Republic of China, one of the most important emerging economic and political world powers, and of offering students the opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of this dynamic relationship.

The Chair will also play a role in meeting the growing academic and public interest in EU-Chinese relations through the organization of conferences and lectures, while two scholarships permit Chinese students to pursue their studies at the College. The first part-time chairholder of the InBev-Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations is Professor Jing Men, whose work is supported by Giuseppe Balducci as a half-time research assistant.
