From 30 March to 1 April 2017, the European Interdisciplinary Studies programme organized – in cooperation with the International Committee of the Red Cross – a two and a half days Introductory Seminar on International Humanitarian Law for students, researchers and practitioners.

The aim of this seminar was to familiarize participants with new and emerging challenges that the international community is confronted with in the domain of Humanitarian Protection and Assistance in times of armed conflicts.

Professor Elżbieta MIKOS-SKUZA (University of Warsaw, College of Europe) and other practitioners of Law and EU Affairs addressed highly-discussed issues related to the workings of International Humanitarian Law (IHL) and the links between the European Union and IHL.

The seminar was open to students (in their final year of studies) of Law and Administration, International Relations, Political Science, Diplomacy, European Studies, Journalism and other related fields, registered students of the College of Europe, as well as to students/researchers currently attending a postgraduate programme in the above fields and practitioners. A certificate of participation was given to participants who followed the entire programme. The seminar was conducted in English without translation.
