EU funded project El Hiwar II – Training and Information Course on Euro-Arab Diplomacy: Programme launched

On 4 July 2018 the programme "El-Hiwar II: Training and Information Course on Euro-Arab diplomacy" was launched. The launching event took place at the headquarters of the League of Arab States (LAS) in Cairo.

The goal of the second edition of this programme is to build on the success stories of "El-Hiwar I" which was the pilot programme for strengthening dialogue, cooperation and collaboration between EU officials and key regional actors in the Arab region.

El Hiwar II will be implemented from 2018 to 2022.

"El Hiwar" is Arabic and means "dialogue". The programme is a dialogue tool for the EU and the LAS to support strengthened work relations and to learn about each other's functioning, mechanisms and policies.

The launching event brought together over 30 participants: representatives of different departments at the League of Arab States and representatives of the European Commission's Directorate-General for Neighbourhood and Enlargement, the European External Action Service, and the European Union Delegation to the Arab Republic of Egypt.

El-Hiwar II: Training and Information Course on Euro-Arab Diplomacy, is a project funded by European Commission DG NEAR and implemented by the College of Europe. It is conceived as a dialogue tool for the EU and the LAS to support strengthened work relations and to learn about each other's functioning, mechanisms and policies.
