French Society looks back on successful 'Semaine Française Digitale'

For the third week in a row our students appealed to their creativity with the organisation of the French National Week 2019-2020 or — as we say it in the language of Molière — La Semaine Française Digitale. From Monday 30 March until Saturday 4 April, the members of the French Society offered their fellow students a wide range of lovely online activities.

"Needless to say that our first reaction after the announcement of confinement has been disappointment. We put so much effort and commitment into the French Week 2019-2020 that we felt powerless. But after a period of grief, we said to ourselves: The French Week is dead, long live the French Digital Week", explain the students of the French Society.

In those difficult times, entertainment, solidarity and community are key factors to our own life at the College.

"The Baltic-Nordic Digital Week, and the interest of the College’s Community, gave us the strength to bounce back and organize a French Digital Week. After cancelling all guests’ visits to the College, all food deliveries that we had planned, we still had presents to give to the student community of the College. All wine and champagne sponsors felt sorry about the cancelling and gave us their blessing to still offer their products to the students", says President Thibault GAVALDA.

"Quiz, Instagram contests, digital visits of the coins de France, a publication of French movies and playlists: we adapted the National Week and tried, we hope successfully, to make l’Esprit du Collège, and its collegiality, survive. In those difficult times, entertainment, solidarity and community are key factors to our own life at the College." All the creative digital activities could be followed via Instagram.

"Finally, we want to thank all the students of the Hannah Arendt Promotion, in Bruges or elsewhere, for their great interest in our activities and in the French Digital Week in general."
