On Tuesday, 20 June 2017, the students of the European Public Policy Analysis (EPPA) Option organised the 2nd EPPA Symposium.

This year the Symposium focused on the topic:  “EU policy on labour migration: One size fits all?”

There were three panels in which both experts on the topic and the EPPA students discussed the following issues:

  • Free movement of labour: Economic effects and remaining barriers
    Speaker:  Matthias BUSSE, Researcher at the Centre for European Policy Studies
  • What challenges for harmonization and implementation of migration policy: ‘Blue card policy’
    Speakers: Lucie CERNA, Research Associate at the Centre on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS), Oxford  and Katharina EISELE, Policy Analyst at the European Parliament
     
  • What are the effects of the posted workers directive? What regulatory challenges?
    Speaker: Aukje VAN HOEK, Professor of Private International Law and Civil Procedure at the University of Amsterdam


The Symposium was co-hosted by Professor Phedon NICOLAIDES, Director of the European Economic Studies Department and Professor Olivier COSTA, Director of the European Political and Administrative Studies Department.
