"The College of Europe – Arenberg European Prize" Award Ceremony 2017

On 7 June 2017, the College of Europe, together with the Arenberg Foundation, organized the Award Ceremony of the second edition of the College of Europe – Arenberg European Prize at the European Parliament in Brussels. The College of Europe – Arenberg European Prize is awarded to an excellent contribution by a postgraduate student in history, humanities or social sciences, which, using historical and/or comparative analysis, explores federal solutions for European integration.

The Ceremony started with a welcome by Mr Mark EYSKENS, President of the Arenberg Foundation, and Professor Dr Dr Jörg MONAR, Rector of the College of Europe. Then, Professor Paul DEMARET, having made honourable mention of the second-placed work by an alumna of the College of Europe in Natolin, Ms Marloes JONGEWAARD, announced the winner. He presented the award on behalf of the Jury of the Prize to the laureate Mr Loïc CHARPENTIER for his work titled: "Intégration fédérale. Comparaison entre le processus de l’établissement de la République fédérale des Etats-Unis d’Indonésie et l'Intégration Européenne". Mr CHARPENTIER then outlined his findings to the audience.

The keynote speech was delivered by Mr Alain LAMASSOURE, Member of the European Parliament on "Europe : Fédération ou Communauté ?".
