Mission Statement
The Global Competition Law Centre (GCLC) is a research centre of the College of Europe. It was founded on 1 January 2004 in Bruges. The aims of the GCLC are:
- to promote rigorous legal and economic analysis of competition policy reforms in the EU and globally; and
- to provide a discussion forum for academics, practitioners, and enforcement officers in the competition field.
In order to achieve these aims, the GCLC intends to engage in a wide range of activities, including:
- organising conferences, workshops, and lunch talks on current topics of competition law;
- launching a working paper series containing critical and innovative research in the area of competition law; and
- hosting European and non-European scholars wishing to undertake competition law research in Bruges.
The GCLC is funded through the generous financial support of a number of law firms, economic consultancies, and corporations. The GCLC is a non-profit and independent organisation.
