David Earnshaw

David Earnshaw combines academic knowledge and study of the European Parliament with extensive practical insight. He worked with the Chair of Parliament’s Environment Committee 1987-1993, ran the Brussels/EU government affairs office of a major European pharmaceutical company, and then of the development agency OXFAM, 1996-2001 and 2001-2002 respectively, and since 2002 has been a managing director of the leading public affairs company Burson Marsteller Brussels. He has published widely in the academic literature on EU decision making (for example in the Journal of European Public Policy, the Journal of Common Market Studies, the Journal of Legislative Studies, Environmental Politics, etc.). He was a Labour candidate in the 1989 European elections, and has taught at Hatfield Polytechnic, Heriott-Watt University, and for the Open University.
