Elena Lopéz Cuenca

Elena López Cuenca (ES) is visiting language professor for Spanish at the College of Europe. She graduated in History and Science of Education from Complutense University Madrid, Spain, and holds a Master of Science in Islamic Art from the University of Edinburgh, UK, as well as a Master of Science in Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language from the University Antonio de Nebrija in Madrid.

From 1994 to 2000 Elena López taught Spanish as a foreign language to adults at the Institute of Applied Language Studies, University of Edinburgh. She was also a part-time visiting lecturer at Napier University and subject leader for the language and culture program in the BA (Hons) Hospitality and Tourism Management degree of Queen Margaret University College in Edinburgh. As an Assistant Course Director of Spanish at the Institute of Applied Language Studies (1999-2000), she took part in different academic projects and began to specialize in teacher training. From 2001 to 2005 Elena López worked for the Instituto Cervantes in Athens, Greece, where she continued her work as a teacher trainer and was appointed as oral examiner for the Diplomas DELE. She currently works for the Instituto Cervantes in Brussels, Belgium.
