Maarten Pieter Schinkel

Visiting Professor since 2008 and Associate Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Business of the University of Amsterdam since 2005.

Co-director of the Amsterdam Center for Law & Economics (ACLE), Academic Director of the Economics Network for Competition and Regulation (ENCORE, a platform sponsored by the Dutch government) and CEPR Research Affiliate

Former positions at the Universität Regensburg (Germany), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (Cambridge MA, USA), Université de Liège (Belgium) and the Universiteit Maastricht (The Netherlands).

Research interests: industrial organization theory and empirics, the enforcement of competition law and the economics of information.

Recent publications on: forensic economics, cartel detection, antitrust damages, Type I and Type II errors in antitrust enforcement, leniency, European competition law enforcement, and efficiencies in merger control.
