Pascal Bonnard received his Ph.D. from the Institute for Political Studies of Paris. He devoted his Ph.D. to the formation and politicization of Ethnicity in Post-Soviet Europe, through the case study of Latvia.

He was a non tenure track assistant professor at the University of Paris Ouest Nanterre from 2009 to 2011.

He holds a Master in comparative studies (with a special focus on Russia and CIS countries) from the Institute of Political Studies of Paris (2005) and a Diploma of the Otto-Suhr-Institute of the Free University in Berlin (2005).

He mainly published on the politicization of ethnicity in post-Soviet Europe, on the impact of the circulation of European norms on minorities and on memory issues.
