Dr. Stephan Keukeleire (°1962) is a Jean Monnet Professor in European Foreign Policy at the Institute for International and European Policy of the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (K.U. Leuven). He is the director of the “Master of European Studies – Transnational and Global Perspectives”, vice-director of the “Master in European Politics and Policies” (MEPP), and academic co-ordinator of the Jean Monnet Centre of Excellence ‘The EU, Foreign Policy and Global Governance’. He is a Visiting Professor at the College of Europe in Bruges for the course “European Foreign Policy”.
Stephan Keukeleire’s theoretical research focuses on the conceptualisation and analysis of foreign policy in an era of globalisation, with the concept 'structural foreign policy' being at the heart of his work. His research on EU foreign policy focuses on various dimensions, including CFSP/ESDP, the EU’s structural foreign policy, decision-making and implementation, the role of networks and directories, and the EU’s policy towards Kosovo. Stephan Keukeleire published widely on the various dimensions of EU foreign policy. He is the co-author, with Jennifer MacNaughtan, of the book “The Foreign Policy of the European Union” (‘European Union Series', Palgrave/Macmillan, 2008, 374 pp).
