Sven Biscop

Visiting professor, European Political and Administrative Studies Department

Sven Biscop is a senior research fellow at Egmont – the Royal Institute for International Relations (Brussels) where he focuses on the foreign, security and defence policy of the European Union. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in International Relations at Ghent University (2002) where he subsequently lectured on European security (2003-2007). Professor Biscop has held lectures at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), the Université de Liège (ULG), and has been a visiting professor at Renmin University in Beijing and Carleton University in Ottawa. His recent research and publications have focussed on the European Security Strategy, on which he has published Euro-Mediterranean Security: A Search for Partnership (Ashgate, 2003), The European Security Strategy – A Global Agenda for Positive Power (Ashgate, 2005) and The EU and the European Security Strategy – Forging a Global Europe (Routledge, 2007, co-edited with Jan Joel Andersson).
