Tony Bass

Tony Bass (IE) is Senior Lecturer and seconded national expert at the European Institute of Public Administration (EIPA) in Maastricht, Netherlands, where he specialises in a number of areas including communications and public relations.

Tony Bass is a graduate of the National College of Ireland in Dublin and the University of Warwick, UK. He is a member of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland and the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development, UK. Prior to his current appointment he was Head of Training for the Irish Presidency of the EU in 2004. A career civil servant, he has worked in eight Ministries in Ireland and has been a press officer and communications adviser in a number of them, including Press Officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during the Irish EU Presidency in 1996. He has also trained and advised a range of NGOs and civil society interests.

He is the author of Hints & Tips for Chairing EU Meetings (2003) and The A-Z of EU Event Management (2003).
