Wojciech Sosnowski

Wojciech Sosnowski (PL) is a language professor of Russian at the College of Europe. He graduated from Lomonosov Moscow State University (2000) with a Master of Arts in Philology, section "Russian as a Foreign Language". He has completed a Ph.D. at the Institute of Slavonic Studies (Polish Academy of Sciences) “Analytic tendencies in Modern Polish and Russian” and he has published several academic articles on methodology of teaching Russian as a foreign language and linguistics.

He has been teaching Russian at the University of Warsaw (Centre for Foreign Language Teaching). He has amassed considerable experience in teaching all levels of Russian to international students as well as in teacher training.

He is involved with the Russian Language Testing Center for Foreigners of the St. Petersburg State University (diploma of examiner in Official Russian Language Test TORFL, Test of Russian as a Foreign Language).

In language teaching methodology he focuses on teaching foreign language through culture and culture through language study. He says: “Teaching foreign language is not tantamount to giving syntactic structures or learning new vocabulary and expressions, but mainly incorporates, or should incorporate, some cultural element, which are intertwined with language itself”.
