Angelo Martelli is Assistant Professor in European and International Political Economy at the LSE European Institute. He worked as a Consultant for the Jobs Group of the World Bank, as a Policy Fellow for the Open Innovation Team of the UK Cabinet Office and HM Treasury and as a Technical Expert for the IMF. His research interests span labour economics and European political economy, with a particular focus on the impact of technology on the evolution of employment structures across Europe and its implications for labour market institutions and income inequality.
As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow he worked on the ESRC project “Structural reforms and European Integration: Theory, Measurement and Econometric Evidence”. As an Associate at the LSE Institute of Global Affairs he co-leads the Global Migration Initiative and was an integral part in the launch of the Alliance of Leading Universities on Migration (ALUM).
Before arriving at the LSE for his PhD he graduated from Pompeu Fabra University with a MSc and Master of Advanced Studies in Economics and pursued a Bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Management at Bocconi University. Former President of the LSE Italian Society. He has published Op-Eds for several international newspapers including WSJand El Pais.
