Claire LAWRENCE is French and Irish and joined the College of Europe in February 2016. Since January 2022 she is the Co-Director of the Executive Education, Training and Projects Office.

She has nearly fifteen years of experience in the design and management of international cooperation projects focussing on training, capacity building and institutional strengthening. Her main areas of experience and interest are: EU external policies, development cooperation policies, training and adult education, project management methodologies and tools.

Since September 2022, Claire is the Coordinator of the European Diplomatic Academy – Pilot Programme. Launched by the European External Action Service, the programme provides comprehensive training for junior European diplomats and officials from EU institutions on EU diplomacy. Claire is responsible for the entirety of the setup, timing and conduct of the programme’s activities.

Previously, she was notably the Project Coordinator of the EU-funded project El-Hiwar - Information and Training Course on Euro-Arab diplomacy as part-time Key Expert. Her responsibilities included designing and coordinating a series of activities such as training courses, workshops, policy dialogues and other events to strengthen the dialogue and cooperation between the EU and the League of Arab States.

She also lectured for eight years on Project Management to Master students specialising in international project management at Paris 12 University.

Claire holds a Master’s in International Relations and Political Science from Sciences Po Toulouse, and a Master’s degree in Development Economics and Project Management from Paris 12 University. She speaks English and French, has a good command of Spanish and some knowledge of Portuguese.
