EGENHOFER Christian & OBERTHÜR Sebastian - EU Environmental and Climate Change Policy in an International Context (20h)

This course will provide in-depth insights into EU environmental and climate policy in an international context. The emphasis will be on climate change and energy. The course will provide the historical and legal background and investigate the EU’s domestic policies, the related international policy framework and the role of the EU in international climate/environmental policy. A particular emphasis will be put on global and EU energy policy, as it relates closely to climate policy. The course will also introduce key concepts that are useful for understanding and analysing questions of EU and international environmental/climate policy. As a result, students will acquire encompassing knowledge about and understanding of EU environmental and climate policy in an international context as well as the ability to analyse related problems systematically and productively. // ECTS Card
