KAISER W. - The Historical Foundations of the EU (25h)

This course covers the "courte durée" history of European integration from 1945 to the present day from an interdisciplinary perspective. It consists of four sessions on the development of the present-day European Union, one on theoretical and historiographical approaches and debates relevant to understanding the history of the EU, and seven thematic sessions on different dimensions of European integration (countries, actors, institutions). Alongside introductory lectures the course includes five group presentations, a break-out session and the discussion of sources.
