ALTMAN T. - Français I / French I (niveau B1 / level B1) (55h)

The aim of this French course for students with an entry level of A1+ is to reach a B1 level as described by the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): the student can understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, or leisure; can enter unprepared into conversation on familiar topics; and can write simple connected texts.

The course will take students through the tense system and use, noun features (gender and plural), pronouns, the basic syntactic patterns in spoken and written language, the specific particles of academic and argumentative discourse and some of the terminology required for other courses that are part of the curriculum. Most of the time will be devoted to practical exercises (spoken and written) from the field of European studies.

If necessary, the graduation levels for the French language courses may be adapted each year after the entry tests in September in function of students’ ability.
