On Monday, 9 March 2015 (12:30 to 14:30), the InBev-Baillet Latour Chair of European Union-China Relations of the College of Europe is organizing, in cooperation with the Madariaga - College of Europe Foundation, a book launch for a book on "China-EU: Green Cooperation" (edited by Prof. Jing MEN and Mr Etienne REUTER).

The event takes place in Brussels (Madariaga - College of Europe Foundation, Avenue de la Joyeuse Entrée 14, 1040 Brussels, Belgium)

About the book

The book “China-EU: Green Cooperation” offers a selection of views from Chinese and European experts and scholars on the most pressing environmental challenges that Europe and China face in the 21st century. Contributors discuss opportunities and challenges for cooperation between the two sides, but they also look at disputes and tensions in strategic sectors, as well as contributions to international negotiations.
As major global environmental threats cannot be solved without involving China and as there is no single policy area in which environmental issues are not an essential component, the book provides cross-cutting key recommendations for enhancing green cooperation between China and the EU, as well as achieving a global agreement at the UN Climate Change Conference 2015 in Paris.

A book launch with:

  • Mr Etienne REUTER (Elliott Consultants Ltd, Belgium & University of Nottingham, UK) – book editor;
  • Prof. Jing MEN (Director of EU-China Research Centre and the InBev-Baillet Latour Chair of EU-China Relations, College of Europe, Belgium) – book editor;
  • Prof. Beatriz PEREZ DE LAS HERAS (Professor of European Law, University of Deusto, Spain) – author of the chapter “EU-China Cooperation on Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Mitigation Towards a Potential International Emission Trading Scheme”;
  • Mr Rodolphe DE BORCHGRAVE (Managing Director, Cadmos Sprl, Belgium) – author of the chapter “Food Safety : A Challenge for EU-China Cooperation”.

The debate will be held in English and will be moderated by Mr Pierre DEFRAIGNE, Executive Director, Madariaga - College of Europe Foundation.
