Professional Training: EU Negotiations in Practice – Mastering the Art of Negotiations

From 10/10 till 14/10

Bruges and Brussels
Belgium

From 10 to 14 October 2011, the Development Office of the College of Europe has organised a one-week training programme on EU Negotiations.

This training took place in Bruges at the College premises and in Brussels at the European Council.

The purpose of this five-day advanced training course was to provide participants with a practical insight into the mechanisms and dynamics between and within the EU institutions.

Participants were officials from EU and non-EU countries but also professionals from the private sector, civil society organisations, universities and institutes. They received the necessary tools and guidance to enhance their negotiation, communication and lobbying skills in a European context.

Drawing on their extensive experience, our lecturing staff teached the participants how to become successful and strategic negotiators within the political and legal structures of the EU.

The course has been organised since 2004 as part of the Development Office’s professional training courses on EU affairs. This year, for the first time since its creation, the programme of the seminar included a workshop dedicated to Accession Negotiation.
