The aim of this Russian course for beginners is to reach the equivalent of an A1 level as described by the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR): the student can understand familiar words and very basic phrases concerning himself/herself, his/her family and immediate concrete surroundings when people speak slowly and clearly; can ask and answer simple questions in areas of immediate need or on very familiar topics; and can write short, simple messages.
