The Natolin Neighbourhood Ambassadorial Talk, organized by the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair on 12 October 2020, revolved around the European Union's multi-layered relationship with Belarus in light of the current political upheaval that started in the wake of Belarus' presidential elections of 9 August 2020.

The Head of EU Delegation to Belarus, H.E. Ambassador Dirk SCHUEBEL, connected with Natolin from his office in Minsk and discussed current domestic developments in Belarus and, likewise, EU responses.

The event took place in the form of a conversation moderated by Professor Tobias SCHUMACHER, Chairholder of the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair. Ambassador SCHUEBEL was introduced by H.E. Ambassador Thomas MAYR-HARTING, Visiting Professor at Natolin.

H.E. Ambassador Dirk SCHUEBEL is the European Union's Head of Delegation to Belarus since 2019. He served in the past as Head of the European Union Delegation and Ambassador in the Republic of Moldova and as Head of the Political, Press and Information Section of the European Union Delegation to Ukraine. In between, he worked as both Head of Division for Russia and as Head of Division for the bilateral relations with the Eastern Partnership in the European External Action Service. Before his EEAS commitments, he worked in the European Commission’s DGs dealing with Transport and Energy, Enlargement and also Trade. He started his professional career in the German Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Ambassador SCHUEBEL holds a degree in Foreign Trade and International Commercial Relations.
