A partir de 25/03 till 01/04

From 25 March to 1 April 2016, fourteen students of the Natolin (Warsaw) campus of the College of Europe participated in the prestigious New York - National Model United Nations (NY-NMUN) 2016.

The NY-NMUN competition is a simulation game, which involves around 6000 students from more than one hundred universities, schools and other academic institutions from all over the world. In the context of its seventh consecutive participation, the Natolin campus represented Georgia, an important case study in the framework of the research activities of the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair.

This year’s selected students (or "delegates"), forming the Delegation of Georgia, were: Mr Mark HOLLELEY, Head Delegate, Ms Kateryna KULYNA, Mr Luke DEVENISH, Mr Lasse SALONEN, Mr Aleksander SZOJDA, Mr Bogdan PAVEL, Ms Ewa ŻUKOWSKA, Mr Vincent MÉRIAUX, Ms Maria Chiara PROPERZI, Ms Tessel GIELE, Ms Alicia OBERHAUSER, Ms Aleksandra TOR, Mr Jan SZYSZKO and Mr Sören HEITKAMP. The students were accompanied to New York by their coaches, Senior Academic Assistants Mr Mattia FILIPPIN and Mr Paweł MICHALSKI, and Professor Tobias SCHUMACHER, Chairholder of the European Neighbourhood Policy Chair.

This year at the NY-NMUN 2016, the Natolin Team kept up with the outstanding trend of its previous performances by winning 8 "NMUN Awards" including the "Distinguished Delegation Award". Here the full list of awards given to the Delegation:

  • 1 "Distinguished Delegation Award" - awarded to entire Delegation recognizing the excellent performance of all 14 students;
  • 6 "Outstanding Position Paper Award" - out of 7 Position Papers submitted;
  • 1 "Outstanding Delegates in Committee Award" - in the UNHCR Committee.

Given the largely unmatched number of awards, the Delegation of the Natolin campus was once again recognized as one of the most awarded and commended delegations at the conference. This is the fourth consecutive success of the Natolin campus at NMUN in New York City. Including this year's edition, the Natolin campus managed to bring home the impressive amount of 29 "NMUN Awards" in four consecutive years.
