From Thursday 24 to Friday 25 November 2005 an international workshop took place at the College’s campus in Bruges.
The Conference on International Terrorism — A European Answer to a Global Threat is organised by the Department of European Political and Administrative Studies.
The purpose of this workshop is to assess the current threat of terrorism and the European response to it. It is divided into two blocks: During the first session on “The EU and the challenge of international terrorism” the threat perceptions and international dimension of the topic are analysed. The second day session “The EU Response: External Action and Internal Measures” elaborates the numerous implications and side-effects of the fight against international terrorism. The workshop is opened by the Rector of the College, Prof. Paul Demaret. The sessions are chaired by Prof. Dieter Mahncke and Prof. Jörg Monar. Participants are both academics and professional experts. The workshop is open for staff and students of the College.
