ENP High-Level Lecture by Professor Kalypso NICOLAÏDIS: "A post-colonial agenda in European studies and a post-colonial approach in EU external action"

On 4 November 2021, upon the invitation of the European Neighbourhood Policy ChairProfessor Kalypso NICOLAÏDIS opened the Natolin Neighbourhood Days 2021 with a special online lecture entitled: ‘A post-colonial agenda in European studies and a post-colonial approach in EU external action’

About the speaker:

Kalypso NICOLAÏDIS is Professor of International Relations at the University of Oxford and a governing body fellow at St Antony’s College at the European Studies Centre. She also is Professor of Transnational Governance and Democracy at the European University Institute in Florence. Professor NICOLAÏDIS has published widely on international relations, global governance, law and democracy, as well as both internal and external dimensions of European integration.

As Professor at Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government, she previously had worked with numerous EU institutions, including as a member of the European Council’s reflection group on the future of Europe chaired by Felipe González (2008–10). Currently, she is the Chair of the Oxford Working Group on Brexit as well as she leads the Global PeaceTech programme. Her research interests revolve around internal and external aspects of European integration as well as global affairs, theatres of recognition, democratic theory, solidarity and empathy, global governance and international trade, sustainable integration, post-colonialism, myth and politics and the import of new technologies on international relations. Her latest book is: Exodus, Reckoning, Sacrifice: Three Meanings of Brexit (2019).

The events was open to all students of the European Interdisciplinary Studies' programme.
