Dr Antonio Missiroli is NATO Assistant Secretary-General for Emerging Security Challenge at NATO HQ in Brussels until November 2020. Previously, he was Director of the European Union Institute for Security Studies (2012-2017); Adviser at the Bureau of European Policy Advisers (BEPA) of the European Commission (2010-2012); Director of Studies at the European Policy Centre in Brussels (2005-2010); and Senior Research Fellow at the W/EUISS in Paris (1998-2005). He was also Head of European Studies at CeSPI in Rome (1994-1997) and Visiting Fellow at St Antony’s College in Oxford (1996-1997).

As well as being a professional journalist, he taught at the Universities of Bath and Trento, Boston University and SAIS/Johns Hopkins (Bologna). He currently teaches as visiting professor at the College of Europe (Bruges) and PSIA/Sciences Po (Paris).

Education: PhD degree in Contemporary History from the Scuola Normale Superiore (Pisa); Master’s degree in International Public Policy from SAIS/Johns Hopkins University
