Dr Maciej DURKIEWICZ is a graduate of the Italian Philology Department, University of Warsaw. In 2017, he obtained his PhD from the Faculty of Modern Languages where he is currently employed in the role of Teaching Assistant at the Faculty of Specialist and Intercultural Communication. He joined the Languages and Intercultural Dialogue team at the College of Europe in Natolin in September 2018.

Maciej DURKIEWICZ has worked as a teacher of Italian at private language schools in Warsaw, the Foreign Languages Centre at the University of Warsaw, and the Faculty of Italian Studies at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń.

His research interests centre on modern Italian language (its syntax and text; also in contrastive approach to modern Polish language) and its written and spoken varieties as well as the way it is used in CMC (Computer Mediated Communication). He is also interested in the use of language corpora in research based on learner language corpora.

Maciej DURKIEWICZ has co-authored the Great Polish-Italian Italian-Polish Dictionary (Langenscheidt, 2007/2015).
