College of Europe Business Club at the Solvay Business Game, 28.02-1.03.2015, Brussels

Four students from the European Economic Integration and Business specialisation of the Department of European Economic Studies at the College of Europe took part in the Solvay Business Game – one of the biggest on-stage business case competitions in Europe. 400 participants from top business schools from Europe come together to solve real-life challenges provided by the partner companies. This year, the cases included, for instance, a Marketing Challenge by Unilever, a Pitch Challenge by McKinsey & Company and a Negotiations Challenge by BDO.

The experience was very intense and challenging - all cases required creativity, knowledge of financial indicators, presentation skills and the ability to work in international teams. All the students enjoyed the experience, learned a lot, and could create a better link between the classroom knowledge and the business reality. Moreover, Mohamed Amine BOUDHIBA and Katarzyna BITKA managed to come third in the Negotiations Challenge by BDO.

According to Sabine GURBANOVA, “These were 2 days spent in a real business environment, and we really felt like an important part of what was going on during the event! For me it was not simply a student competition, but a contest between the business people’s minds.”
