Model United Nations 2013

On 14-17 February 2013, a team of 9 students of the EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies Department of the College of Europe successfully participated in the 14th edition of the London International Model United Nations (LIMUN) simulation in London. LIMUN is the largest annual university-based MUN conference in Europe, gathering over 1,500 students from all horizons.

The College of Europe students represented the EU members Spain and Bulgaria, in the name of which they negotiated and drafted resolutions on topics ranging from European defense cooperation to the protection of cultural property in times of armed conflict and the human rights issues of honour crimes.

The delegates’ participation was outstanding, with 5 individual delegate awards for Ms Sophie GATZSCHE (UNICEF), Mr Romain GUSTOT (EU), Mr Martin LESTRA (UNEP), Ms Rita NAGY (UNESCO) and Ms Emily ROBINSON (UNHCR). Together with the other members of the team (Ms Jacqueline BREIDLID, Mr Georg HASZLINGER, Mr Enrique IBANEZ GONZALEZ, Mr Joseph SENNINGER), the College of Europe’s delegation’s very strong overall performance was rewarded with the best medium-sized delegation award of this year’s LIMUN.
