On 5 November 2010 the Department of Political and Administrative Studies organised a conference which is aimed at reassessing the political ideas of French President Charles de Gaulle about the European construction and his role in the integration process.
The conference brought together leading academic experts and senior diplomats. It was opened by Ambassador Philippe Etienne, Permanent Representative of the French Republic to the European Union, and started with a presentation by Ambassador Pierre Maillard, former diplomatic counsellor of Charles de Gaulle.

The Conference took place in the auditorium of the College of Europe at Verversdijk 16 (8000 Bruges).
