Rector MOGHERINI's webinar at the National Defense University, Washington D.C.

On Wednesday, 17 March 2021, Rector MOGHERINI participated in a websession organized by the National Defense University, Washington D.C.

The 2017 National Security Strategy of the United States, and its companion National Defense Strategy of 2018, introduced a new macro-narrative to the national and international security discourse by introducing a new era of great power competition, primarily with China, and to a lesser extent with Russia. There is little evidence that the Biden administration will depart substantially from this narrative of great power competition. A question for Europeans, the answer to which is vitally important to the United States, is will Europe join the United States in a single, liberal, democratic pole? Or will Europe stand on its own as a third pole in a multi-polar global system? What is the meaning of European security autonomy?  These are issues that Rector MOGHERINI addressed.
