Study trip 2014 - Department of European Legal Studies

The Department of European Legal Studies of the College of Europe organizes every year a three-day study trip to Strasbourg and to Luxembourg (at no extra-cost), to visit some of the EU institutions and bodies, in addition to the European Court of Human Rights.

This year, the trip took place in February and the first stop was the European Parliament, where we were welcomed by MEP Mr Jo LEINEN (Alumnus of the College of Europe), who had a very interesting discussion with the students about the coming elections and the future of the European Union, amongst other things. Right after our discussion, we visited the plenary session.

During the second day, we visited the European Ombudsman headquarters in Strasbourg and the European Court of Human Rights, where the students met Judge Ledi BIANKU, also an alumnus from the College of Europe.

The last stop of our visit was the European Court of Justice in Luxembourg, where the students had the chance to meet and discuss with judges from the European Court of Justice, the General Court and the Civil Service Tribunal, namely Judge Koen LENAERTS, Vice-President of the Court of Justice, Judge Guido BERARDIS from the General Court and Judge Kieran BRADLEY from the Civil Service Tribunal.
