In the framework of the conferences organized this year in the honour of the promotion patrons Falcone and Borsellino, the student of the College of Europe could attend a speech of Ms. M. CONINSX, President of Eurojust called “Eurojust: an added value in the fight against organized crime and terrorism”.

After paying tribute to the memory of Giovane FALCONE and Paolo BORSELLINO, Ms. CONINSX focused her speech on the key missions of Eurojust: coordination, support to member states and judicial cooperation between member states. This, in order to create a rapid reaction against terrorism and organized crime, which doesn’t stop at the Member States' frontiers. Mainly composed of prosecutors assisted by experts, Eurojust’s goal is to become an expert centre and a key actor at the judicial level in order to fight effectively against organized cross-border criminality inside the European Union.

Finally, Ms. CONINSX wished to make two announcements specially for the College of Europe. The first one was the creation of an internship place – unfortunately unpaid – which will be offered to a student of the College at the end of the year. The second surprise was that Ms CONINSX didn’t came alone: she was accompanied by the responsible for external relations of Eurojust who is an alumnus of the College of Europe. In a brief speech he stressed the need for the student to engage all their efforts in this intensive year.

Eurojust is fighting serious, organized cross-border crime by facilitating coordination of investigations and prosecutions for EU Member States.
