EUnited Against Extremism, the College of Europe team came in third in the finals in Washington D.C.

The College of Europe team EUnited Against Extremism was in Washington D.C. on 24 June 2016, to present before the U.S. State Department and Facebook its campaign against radicalization.

Over 40 teams from all over the world have participated and the 'EUnited' team secured a place on the podium where five students competed for the challenge (US Department of State sponsored Global Competition ‘Peer 2 Peer: Challenging Extremism’). The team came in third place out of four in the Facebook challenge. But as there was a shared first place, they received the second place price money (3000€).

Besides their presentation, the team also took part in an International Visitors Leadership Program, taking place in Washington D.C., New York and San Francisco. In Washington D.C., they met with senators and directors of the National Security Council (NSC). In New York, they took the opportunity to present their results before students of the New York University and experts from the New York Police Department (NYPD). Finally, in San Francisco, they visited the campus of Facebook, co-sponsor of the challenge, and exchanged views with representatives of associations and local youth centers committed against radicalization.
