Rector MOGHERINI participated in a high-level keynote on EU-Latin America relations

On 4 May 2021, the College of Europe Development Office and the Delegation of the European Union to Colombia hosted a virtual high-level keynote on the topic of “EU-Latin America Relations” by former High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/Vice President of the European Commission Federica MOGHERINI, Rector of the College of Europe, moderated by Ms Carme COLOMINA, visiting professor at the College. The event, introduced by the EU Ambassador to Colombia, Ms Patricia LLOMBART,  was organized in cooperation with the EU delegations in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Peru, and Uruguay.

The event attracted close to 200 participants and mainly focused on Ms MOGHERINI interacting with the audience, which consisted of young diplomats and academics with research interests in EU affairs. Topics raised ranged from geopolitical matters over trade to sustainability and climate change.

Before the start of the event, the Rector was warmly welcomed by officials from the different EU delegations: Jordi GARCÍA MARTÍNEZ, Head of Political Section in Argentina; Ignacio YBÁÑEZ, EU Ambassador to Brazil; Leon DE LA TORRE KRAIS, EU Ambassador to Chile; Patricia LLOMBART, EU Ambassador to Colombia; Diego MELLADO, EU Ambassador to Peru, and Karl-Otto KOENIG, EU Ambassador to Uruguay.
