The Madariaga – College of Europe Centre

Challenging Citizens

Working to promote citizen’s ownership of the European democratic space, using controversy as a methodology to stir up citizen’s interest in the EU.

Empowering Europe

Developing European responses for a world marked by challenges and opportunities global in nature and by the rise of new powers.

The Madariaga-College of Europe Centre is dedicated to promoting original thinking on the role of the European Union in an era of global change, engaging citizens and international partners in a creative debate on the issues that shape Europe’s future. Through events and research the Centre pursues a two-fold mission of challenging the citizen and empowering Europe.

Letter by Pierre DEFRAIGNE in response to the article by James PANICHI entitled "China-backed think tank exits Brussels"

The Centre is presided over by Javier SOLANA and Pierre DEFRAIGNE is the Director. The Centre bears the name of the founder of the College of Europe: Spanish writer, historian, diplomat and philosopher Salvador DE MADARIAGA (1886-1978).
