  • Guided tours for the introductory courses will be limited to 5 students, only booked in advance through library.be@coleurope.eu.

  • External visitors are not allowed until further notice.

  • Disinfectant gel is available next to the entrance door, nearby the reading room and toilets.

  • The library as an attractive meeting place

    • During the Summer the entrance hall and the meeting rooms were refurbished.

    • Try out our new comfortable, inviting seating in the entrance hall. It is an ideal place to connect and collaborate!
    • Use and book our 5 meeting rooms, each with capacities of 4 to 8 persons and some adorned with an attractive design.
    • Looking for a book in the reading room? Easy with the newly designed signage on the red painted panels.

  • New Interlibrary Loan feature in our catalogue WorldCat Discovery. 
    • When a book or article is not held by our library, but by other libraries worldwide, there is now an "Interlibrary loan request" button in the record available. Just click his button, complete the request form and submit. Library staff will then take care of your request.
  • New homepage Westlaw UK
  The Library will be closed in July for interior painting.

The library has a subscription to the online language learning tool Rosetta Stone Advantage.

Available languages for all levels : Chinese, Dutch (for non-native speakers), English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.

The database covers topics as agriculture, disarmament, drugs, crime and terrorism, human rights and refugees, international law and justice, international trade and finance, migration, peacekeeping and security,...

September 2017 :

The Library is pleased to announce the subscription of 3 new eBook collections for Oxford Handbooks Online (OHO) :  Business & Management, Economics & Finance and Political Science. Titles are available via the catalogue and the Oxford Handbooks Platform.

March 2017 :

The Library offers access to the following databases : 

  • Kluwer Competition Law : fully searchable collection of primary source materials, news, commentary, and analysis for anyone with an interest in competition law. The specific focus is the EU. Includes 105 books and 3 journals.
  • Kluwer Intellectual Property Law (IP Law) : database with copyright and trademark law over 230 jurisdictions, including 94 books and 1 journal.
  • Kluwer Digital Book Platform - subject EU law : subscription to +/ 150 e-book titles on European Union law.  Select subscribed content (in stead of all) or use the filter "European Union law". The first time you open an e-book, content could be blocked. Disable your browser's pop-up blocker.

January 2017 :

The Library has a new subscription to Van Dale Online dictionaries.  Contains Oxford Hachette Online (French-English, English-French), Oxford Dictionary & Thesaurus Online, Le Petit Robert and the Van Dale dictionaries English-Dutch, Dutch-English, French-Dutch, Dutch-French, German-Dutch, Dutch-German, Dutch-Spanish, Spanish-Dutch, Italian-Dutch, Dutch-Italian, Portuguese-Dutch, Dutch-Portuguese and Contemporary Dutch.

 

December 2016 :

Ebrary, one of our multidisciplinary databases for e-books upgraded to Ebook Central. The interface is quite similar and you can just sign in to the new platform with your ebrary credentials. Ebook Central is designed with mobile in mind. Access the site from your tablet or phone, and download e-books for offline reading. 

November 2016 :

The database Cairn.info offers the most comprehensive online collection of French language publications in social sciences and humanities. The Bruges library subscribes to Cairn's "Bouquet EcoSocPol" (sciences économiques, sociales et politiques), a package which includes more than 200 journals.

You can find the journals and articles through Cairn.info or WorldCat Discovery.

The Bruges library has implemented OCLC’s WorldShare Management Services, a next generation library system to manage both electronic and print collections.

The new catalogue, with extensive filter possibilities and enrichment content (as book covers, TOCs, abstracts), provides improved access to more digitally available scientific literature - all within a single search interface. Students and staff are now able to search the College’s significant collection on European subjects including print books, e-books, scholarly journals and articles, newspaper articles, theses and more. WorldCat Discovery also allows to explore the resources of other libraries in Europe and worldwide.

The Library has a new subscription to ebrary Academic Law e-books. They can be found and accessed in the Library catalogue.

February 2016 :

The Jacques DELORS Institute has opened the personal archives of its founding President for consultation by researchers and observers interested in the history of the European Project, in order to shed light on the European Union today and on how to confront the challenges it faces.

Some figures on the Jacques Delors Archives – Presidency of the European Commission (1984-1994):

  • 2 000 personal archival files;
  • 10 years of European history;
  • 7 places of consultation in Europe, i.a. College of Europe (upon request)
