Director of Studies of the European Interdisciplinary Studies Programme (The lnternal and External Dimensions of the European Union) at its Natolin campus (Warsaw)

The College of Europe is seeking applications for the position of Director of Studies of the European Interdisciplinary Studies Programme (The lnternal and External Dimensions of the European Union) at its Natolin campus (Warsaw), with a starting date of 1 May 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.

 

Criteria

  • Doctorate in the fields of economic and social sciences, history or law.
  • Publications focussing on a key subject of the European Interdisciplinary Studies Programme.
  • Demonstrated excellence in research and teaching.
  • Senior academic management experience.
  • A very good command of one of the College working languages, either English or French, and an adequate command of the other working language.
  • The capacity to work in an international environment.

 

Tasks

  • This is a preferably a full-time position requiring a presence in Natolin every week during the academic year (25 August-15 July), or a part-time (minimum 50%) position requiring a presence in Natolin at least every other week during the academic year.
  • She/he will be responsible for the management and the development of the European Interdisciplinary Studies Programme within the guidelines set by the Academic Council of the College of Europe.
  • She/he will coordinate the work of a team of academic assistants in supporting delivery of the academic programme, including study visits.
  • She/he is expected to teach at least one course in the Natolin programme and to supervise a number of Master’s theses.
  • She/he will work under the authority of the Rector of the College and in close co-operation with the Vice-rector in charge of the administration of the Natolin campus.
  • She/he will be a member of Academic Council. 

Conditions offered

  • The initial contract will be of a three-year duration with a possible extension.

  • The College will provide accommodation. In the case of a half-time contract the College will support the reasonable cost of round-trip travel between a European country of residence and Natolin.
  • She/he will be supported by other senior Faculty members and colleagues in the fulfilment of her/his duties.
