Weronika CZYŻEWSKA-PONCYLJUSZ

Weronika Czyżewska-Poncyljusz is a Fellow at the European Civilization Chair of the College of Europe in Natolin since April 2022.

She is a member of the Borderland Foundation team. Since 2011 she coordinates the International Center For Dialogue in Krasnogruda program consisting of activities of international scope, relating to the multicultural regions of the world, which include creation and dissemination of new forms of art and intercultural education, training of leaders in these activities and promotion of good practices as well as development of a new reflection in this field (programs such us: Borderland School, Tales of coexistent. Invisible Bridge, Borderland/Ukraine).

Weronika Czyżewska-Poncyljusz is currently finishing her​ PhD thesis at the Faculty of Culture and Arts at the University of Warsaw. Her research activities involves themes of social engagement of art, education in the area of multiculturalism and social and cultural transformations in Central - Eastern Europe in the twentieth century. She was awarded with the Bronisław Geremek’s PhD Scholarship in the academic year 2013/2014 financed by the Polish-German Foundation for Science and spent half a year at Imre Kertész Kolleg Jena in Germany. In 2008-2009 she was a head of the research project "Irena and Tadeusz Byrski Archive" financed by the Foundation for Polish Science.

Weronika Czyżewska-Poncyljusz is currently involved as a researcher and work package lead in Disputed Territories and Memory (DisTerrMem) project, which is a a five-year project funded by Horizon 2020, bringing together an international team of researchers from United Kingdom, Poland, Lithuania, Armenia and Pakistan, who are working collaboratively to explore the management of competing memories of disputed territories across borders. At the European Civilization Chair she works on development of a research program about European borderlands.
