John Hemery (UK) is the founder and Chairman of the Centre for Political and Diplomatic Studies, Oxford. He was educated at Dartmouth College in the United States, and as a postgraduate at both Oxford at Cambridge University (MPhil in International Relations, PhD in International History). After an academic career in International Relations he developed for the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office a major programme of diplomatic training and parliamentary exchange for the new governments of Central and Eastern Europe and Central Asia emerging after 1989. Since then he has designed and directed more than three hundred specialist courses for politicians, officials and civil society organisations in forty countries, concentrating latterly on programmes of preparation for the Presidency of the Council of the European Union and of training for the European External Action Service.
