Kurt Wagner (DE) retired in 2015 from the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ) in Eschborn/Frankfurt, where he held the position of a Senior Advisor to the Mediterranean/Middle East Department. Prior to that, he was the Regional Director for Central Asia of this Agency in Bishkek. Kurt Wagner was also an advisor responsible for project management, impact monitoring and quality management at the GIZ head office, as well as a project manager, consultant and trainer. Over three decades, he gained very broad professional experience in development cooperation projects in Afghanistan, Tanzania, Sierra Leone, Papua New Guinea, Pakistan, India and Central Asia.
Kurt Wagner graduated from the University of Kassel in International Agriculture and studied Sociology and Ethnology at the University of Frankfurt before obtaining a Ph.D. in History from the University of Kassel. He holds additional qualifications in organisation development and mediation.
