Rachele TESEI is Academic Assistant at the European Political and Governance Studies Department since August 2018.

Rachele holds a Master of Arts in European Political and Governance Studies from the College of Europe (A.Y. 2017-18, Simone Veil promotion) for which she wrote a thesis on the Humanitarian-Security Nexus and the changing patterns of EU’s humanitarian aid.

In 2015 she earned a Master of Arts with honours in Human Rights and Multi-level governance from Padua University with a final dissertation titled “Human Rights and the environment: ecocide as a new protection paradigm.”

She completed her Bachelor from Bologna University in International Relations and Diplomatic Affairs in 2013, after winning the Erasmus program scholarship to study at Lund University in Sweden.

Rachele previously worked as Desk Officer at the Directorate-General for European Civil Protection and Humanitarian Aid Operations. Her professional background includes a traineeship at the European Commission (DG ECHO) and at the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Office (UNHCR) in Cairo (Egypt). She also worked in Jerusalem and the West Bank, working on human-rights monitoring and peace-building.

Her areas of interest include humanitarian policies and diplomacy; EU foreign policy and external relations; Migration; and Human Rights.
