Stef Borgers (BE) is an Academic Assistant at the College of Europe in Bruges, Department of EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies since August 2021.

Stef holds an MA in EU International Relations and Diplomacy Studies from the College of Europe (2019-20, Hannah Arendt Promotion), as well as an MA in Laws (2017-2019) and a BSc in Laws (2014-2017) from the University of Antwerp. He participated in an Erasmus+ exchange at the Università degli Studi di Trento (2019) and in summer schools at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (2021), the Università degli Studi di Trento (2018), the Centre international de formation européenne in Rome (2017) and the University of Rijeka (2017). He represented the University of Antwerp at the Global Leadership Summit held in the University of the Free State, South Africa (2014).

His previous work experience includes the Bernheim traineeship at the Belgian Federal Public Service Foreign Affairs, Foreign Trade and Development Cooperation, as well as the Belgian Permanent Representation to the EU. Furthermore, he carried out internships at a Brussels-based law firm and the Belgian Permanent Representation to the UN and other international organisations in Geneva.

Fields of interest: justice and home affairs, with a focus on the rule of law, democracy and values; environment policy; cultural relations; security and defence policy, particularly disarmament and non-proliferation.
