On 16 October 2017, Mr Koert DEBEUF gives a speech entitled "Is the Arab Spring really over?" at the College of Europe, Bruges campus.

Mr Koert DEBEUF (1974, MA History, KU Leuven and Università di Bologna) is the Director of the Tahrir Institute for Middle East Policy, Europe (TIMEP Europe).
From 2011 until 2016 he lived in Cairo where he represented the ALDE Group in the Arab World and as consultant for International IDEA. Debeuf travelled intensively in the Arab region, from Morocco to Iraq and Syria.
From 2009 until 2011 he was Chief of Staff of Guy VERHOFSTADT, President of the ALDE Group in the European Parliament.
From 2003 until 2008 he was speech writer, strategic advisor and later spokesperson of the Prime Minister of Belgium.

Koert DEBEUF published internationally on the Arab Revolution and appeared as an expert on the Arab World in newspapers like The New York Times, The Financial Times, Le Figaro, Die Zeit and as a commentator on TV Channels like Al Jazeera, France 24 and the BBC. He is Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for the Resolution of Intractable Conflict at Harris Manchester College, Oxford University. His latest book, Inside the Arab Revolution. Three Years on the Front Line of the Arab Spring was published in English (2014) and Arabic (2016).
