The Youth Summit on the Transatlantic Digital Economy (DEYS) took place over the course of three days from 19 to 21 November 2017 at the College of Europe, Bruges campus.

The purpose of the Youth Summit on the Transatlantic Digital Economy was to elaborate on a set of policy options that current young leaders deem essential for advancing the transatlantic digital agenda. The Summit seeked to realize three specific goals:

First, to embrace a shared vision for the transatlantic digital economy at European Horizons. This vision was defined by a set of policy options around five main themes:

  1. Furthering Social Identity through Technological Innovation;
  2. Youth and Entrepreneurship in the EU;
  3. Fostering Digital Innovation in Cyberdefense and Cybersecurity;
  4. Job Creation in Times of Industry Disruption;
  5. Investing in Emerging New Technologies.

Second, to create an action roadmap for 2018 where each European Horizons chapter commits to a set of specific actions to advance our shared vision for the digital agenda at their respective universities.

Third, to collect all of the conference’s best policy papers and publish them in the European Horizons journal Review of European and Transatlantic Affairs (RETA).
